Playing in DDT sprayed from trucks as child... leads to adult illness?

I was born in 1951 and my father was in the Navy.  Among other locations, we were stationed in the Phillippines and South Carolina.   During the summer months the Navy routinely sent jeeps through the compounds spraying DDT to combat mosquitos.  My parents weren't aware of the fact that on many occasions my sisters and I used to run behind the jeeps "playing in the fog".

I have always wondered about the long-term affects of DDT exposure and have mentioned it on numerous occasions to my general physicians.  I can only assume that my exposure and my sisters' must have had some deleterious affect on our health, but have never learned more.  I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, I have a handicapped child, suffer from severe and chronic allergies and constant fatigue.  I have had three sinus surgeries to remove nasal polyps and I have uterine polyps.  Are these health issues related to my DDT exposure?  I don't know and probably never will.  It really doesn't make much difference since the damage, if any, has already been done and is irreparable.

My only comment is that I'm hoping that after all these years that our government is somewhat more cautious about approving pesticides, food additives and other possible toxins.
